Vishal is invited to give a seminar at the Emory University Medical School in Atlanta, Georgia. Alaumy received the top Prize for her poster presentation at the Welch Conference in Houston. An exciting study led Dr. Scot Leary’s group with contributions from our lab (Sagnika Ghosh) has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Clinical Investigations. Vishal gives a virtual seminar to the Metals in Biology Scientific Interest Group at the NIH. Horton was awarded 2022 Gathright Phi Kappa Phi Dean’s Excellence Award for College of Agriculture & Life Sciences, signifying his selection as the top Freshman in our college. Vishal and Natalie present our work on mechanisms of elesclomol-mediated copper delivery in cells at the 12th International Copper Conference in Sorrento, Italy. Vishal is selected to serve as a Chair of the next (2024) International Copper Conference in Sorrento, Italy. Vishal co-authors an editorial with Michal Wasilewski and Oleh Khalimonchuk on Mitochondrial Metalloproteome in Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology. Alaumy and Abhinav present their work at the Departmental 75th Anniversary Celebration. Osvaldo Rios presents his poster at the Texas A&M SURGE (Summer Undergraduate Research in Genetics and Genomics) poster session. Miriam Stein presents her work at the Beckman Symposium at Georgia Tech in Atlanta. Our manuscript linking Coa4 to the mitochondrial copper delivery pathway to cytochrome c oxidase has been accepted for publication in Genetics. Congratulations to Abhinav for leading this effort. Our manuscript describing the mechanism by which elesclomol distributes copper in cells and impacts iron metabolism is now published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry.
