Helena Kondow begins her rotation. Sarah Theriault is accepted into the PharmD program at the University of Houston School of Pharmacy. Congratulations to Aaron Griffin for winning the 2014 College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Dean’s Outstanding Achievement Student Award for Undergraduate Research! Austin Witt begins his rotation. Vishal presents our research on Coa6 at the 9th International Copper Meeting in Vico Equense, Italy. Vishal is invited to give a talk at the Gene Center, University of Munich, Germany. The Gohil Lab receives an R01 grant from the National Institute of General Medicine (NIGMS) of the NIH. Sarah Theriault, Gabe Apfel, MariCarmen Quiroz and Yuhong Lin present their poster at the Summer Undergraduate Research Poster Session. Dr. Writoban Basu joins the lab as a postdoctoral research fellow. Aaron begins his REU in the Department of Biochemistry at Texas A&M. Sarah leads a team of three undergraduates, Yuhong, Maricarmen, and Gabe, as part of the Aggie Research Scholars Program. Vishal gives a short talk on mitochondrial diseases caused by mutations in Coa6 at the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) Conference, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Alok presents a poster describing his work on Coa6 at the same conference. Congratulations to Anthony Pratt and Shiva Soma for successfully completing their ORP. Vishal gives a "lightning talk" at the Lipid Maps Conference in San Diego, California. Congratulations to Aaron, Sarah, and Shrishiv for winning first place at Student Research Week! Anthony Pratt and Shivatheja Soma join the Gohil Lab. The Saccharomyces Genome Database publishes a news article on our paper, “Copper supplementation restores cytochrome c oxidase assembly defect in a mitochondrial disease model of COA6 deficiency.” Read the article here! Aaron Griffin is accepted into the Baylor SMART program, the UT Southwestern SURF program, and the Texas A&M Biochemistry REU program.
